Biography

Mike Forest is a rapidly rising race car driver who’s progress in motorsports has led him to run with the leaders in professional level competition. He maintains an aggressive training schedule comprised of swimming, cycling, weight lifting and core training.

In the Canadian Formula Ford Championship, his lap times and race finish positions equalled those of several former champions. In his first year (2004) in the Pacific F2000 Series, he finished 2nd overall. In 2005 he won the Spring Cup and went on to win the overall series Championship.

The next year he moved up to the Champ Car Atlantic Series, but missed most of the season after a stuck throttle in the opening race caused two broken vertebrae. He did manage to compete in 3 events where he posted a 10th place finish in Road America and was awarded bonus points for the most passes in 2 out of his 3 races.

In 2007, Forest returned to the Champ Car Atlantic Series, which many international race media outlets called the most competitive series in the world! But Forest's chances to compete were over as soon as they began. Opponents crashed him out of half of the races that year, often on the opening lap.

The merger between Champ Car and the IRL made the start of 2008 uncertain and after starting the season in the Atlantic Championship”,” Forest moved into the Grand Am Rolex GT Series. Both Forest and his team PR1 Motorsports entered the endurance sports car race season as rookies. They began the season placing within the top 15 and by the season finale were racing for a podium finish.

Forest competed in his first Rolex 24 hour in 2009. The PR1 Pontiac GT car was on pace for a 5th before a Daytona Prototype inflicted damage and dropped them to 11th. Four races into the 2009 season Forest took a seat driving in the Prototype class. A step up from the GT series, Forest was now racing in the highest level of sports car racing in North America. Teamed with Ricky Taylor the two raced for the rookie team Beyer Racing. In the year's most difficult driving conditions the young team lead in several races and posted a 4th place finish at the Montreal 200 after running second right up until the last 5 laps.
